Oftentimes in K-12, the Google workspace administrator for the school or district must review and approve new applications before using Google integrations. Review this guide to see how to get speakable approved.

How to set up

Step 1: Log in with Google

To get started, log in or sign up free using your Google account.

Logging in with Google is required to connect your Google Classroom to Speakable.

Step 2: Import Your Classrooms

  1. Navigate to the Classrooms tab in your dashboard.
  2. Click Create Classroom.
  3. You will see an option to import from Google Classroom.
  4. Speakable will scan for all available Google Classroom sections associated with your account.
  5. Select the classes you’d like to import and click Import.

You can import sections even if they currently have no students enrolled.

Step 3: Sync a Classroom

Once a class has been imported:

  1. Click into the classroom you want to manage.
  2. Use the Sync Classroom button to refresh the student list or confirm that the integration is active.
  3. Once synced, you can begin assigning Speakable activities to the students in that class.

Step 4: Manage Google Classroom Settings

To manage or troubleshoot the integration:

  1. Click on your avatar (⋯) on your header navigation bar.
  2. Select Integrations then click on the Google Classroom tab.
  3. From this view, you can:
    • Confirm that your Google account is connected.
    • Reconnect your account if needed.

Step 5: Assign Activities and Sync Grades

To assign activities to your Google Classroom and sync grades:

  1. Choose the activity you’d like to assign.
  2. Select the appropriate Google Classroom section.
  3. Click Schedule.
  4. Make sure the Sync Grades option is enabled if you want grades from Speakable to be sent back to Google Classroom automatically.
Troubleshooting

Sync Failure or Connection Issues

If your classroom is not syncing correctly or you encounter an error:

  • Go to Settings in Speakable.
  • Navigate to the Integrations tab.
  • Click Reconnect and follow the prompts to reauthorize your Google account.

Students Can’t Sign In with Google

If your students are unable to sign in using their Google accounts, it's possible your institution's Google Workspace settings are blocking access.
