What is Speakable?
Speakable.io is an edtech software platform designed to help K-12 and Higher Ed educators create engaging, language-focused activities. It offers tools for speaking, listening, reading, and writing practice, and supports a variety of languages
Who can use Speakable?
Speakable is designed for educators and students in schools, districts, and universities. It is particularly useful for language teachers and students. There is a growing number of social studies teachers using Speakable in their classroom
What subscription plans does Speakable offer?
Speakable offers three plans: a free plan for teachers, a paid plan for teachers called Teacher Pro, and an organization plan for schools and districts.

What languages are supported by Speakable?

Can I integrate Speakable with my existing LMS?
Yes, Speakable integrates with several LMS platforms, including Google Classroom, Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, and Schoology.
What are the benefits of LMS integrations?

How do I create an activity on Speakable?
There are three ways to create an activity on Speakable:
1. Start from Scratch: Log into your Speakable.io account, navigate to your dashboard, and click the Create button at the top left of the platform. Select Create New Activity, choose Create from Scratch, and then start adding the media and student actions you would like the activity to contain.
2. AI Builder: Use our AI builder to create activities easily based on a prompt or existing materials you upload as a reference.
3. Discover Library: Copy and edit an activity from the Discover Library, where you can find a variety of pre-made activities to customize for your needs.

How can I share activities with other educators?
You can share activities using the Spaces feature, where you can create folders and invite other educators to collaborate. Activities can also be shared through the Global Library or your Organization Library.
How do I track student progress?
Speakable provides various analytics tools, including assignment results, classroom analytics, student analytics, and organization analytics. All analytics except organization analytics can be accessed through from within classrooms. Organization analytics are accessed through the organization itself, and you need admin access for your school, district, or university. Administrators who want access can schedule a meeting with our account team to request admin access using this link.
How can I get help with Speakable?

How do I join the Speakable user forum?
To join the Speakable user forum, visit discussion.speakable.io and create an account directly on the forum. You can then post questions, share ideas, and connect with other educators.
Does Speakable accept purchase orders?
Yes, Speakable accepts purchase orders for organization plans but not for the Teacher Plus plans. Teacher Plus plans can be easily purchased through the app using our online billing system.
Is Speakable FERPA, COPPA compliant / can you sign our district’s data privacy agreement?
Speakable is fully compliant with FERPA and COPPA regulations, and we support schools’ SOPPA requirements. We only collect student personal information with the consent of the school, district, or teacher. For more information about our privacy principles and state-specific information, please visit our privacy center. If you would like us to review a custom data privacy agreement or to add a new state to the SPDC, you can contact us at dataprivacy@speakableapp.com.
Can my school district pilot Speakable?
Yes, schools and districts are eligible to request a free pilot. Free pilots allow schools to try Speakable with their teachers before making a purchasing decision. To request a pilot, schedule a meeting with our pilot program manager using this link.
